Congratulations on winning the Alla Salute Magazine Award of Excellence!

1. Can you share the story of how Churros92 began? What inspired you to open a churro shop?

My wife and I have always had a love of creativity and an interest in starting a business. I have always dreamed about having a cafe, making espressos, and coming up with recipes for drinks. My wife has a passion for culture and her heritage, as well as her legendary churro recipe passed down from her grandmother. Our two sides of one coin came together, and we created churros 92

2. Why did you choose to open at your specific location in Toronto, and how has the neighbourhood responded to your business?

We chose to open at Dufferin and Eglinton because it is an up-and-coming area. As well as the support of the growing Latino population in the area. The neighbourhood has been around for a long time, so we are lucky to be in such a vibrant and honest neighbourhood.

3. What makes your churros stand out from others in the city? Do you follow a traditional recipe, or have you created your own twist?

Why are our churros so special? It is not only because they are true Mexican churros. But rather, they give everyone who has them a moment, a moment in which you feel like you are enjoying the warm breeze off the gulf, a warm sun-kissed air, the sound of music playing somewhere softly, laughter and cups clinking together. The churros bring you peace, they bring you to a beautiful Mexico, if just for a moment, they bring you home.

4. Have you had any extraordinary, memorable, or even funny moments with customers in your shop that you’d like to share?

One day, my wife and I were in an especially creative mode. There was a couple there who quickly became our good friends. We spent hours after closing just rambling on about different ideas and combinations of drinks and churros. That same night, they came up with a drink and even gave it a name, "Cafchata". It was so good, the following day, we put it on our menu!

5. Your menu has gained a well-deserved reputation among Toronto food lovers. What recent menu changes or additions have you introduced, and how have customers reacted?

One of our newer additions has been the churros latte! a churro flavored coffee dream with a Crème brûlée finish. Cinnamon, vanilla, flames and everything, it's amazing seeing everyone's reaction when we prepare it for them the first time.

6. Beyond churros, do you have any signature drinks or other pairings that customers absolutely love?

Beyond churros, we have combined our homemade dulce de leche with our locally roasted coffee. When I tell it's the perfect combination of two worlds that were meant to be. the caramel creaminess and the chocolaty notes from the coffee, all mixing and cascading in the cup when we hand it to you. 7. As an award-winning brand, what are your plans — expansion, new menu items, collaborations, or perhaps a second location?

As an award-winning brand, we like to keep things down to our roots. That's where our creativity and the soul of the brand stay vibrant. We are always looking for ways to bring our humble beginnings and background into everything we make. We will begin introducing a famed Mexican pastry called a "Concha". We are excited to announce that we will have various flavours and options throughout the year. The perfect pairing for our coffee in the morning.

8. Running a specialty shop like this must come with challenges. What obstacles have you faced, and how have you overcome them?

I wouldn't necessarily call it an obstacle, but not everyone knows what a churro is. We spend a large amount of time with our customers, exploring the various options we offer and having the great opportunity to give them their very first churros.

9. Finally, what message would you like to share with your loyal customers and new fans who are eager to try Toronto’s best churros?

We want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who’s supported us since day one. Every visit, every review, and every smile means the world to us. ❤️
